Celebrating Culture Since 1987

The story of Shantala begins with simplicity and dedication. In the small village of Shiggaon near Haveri, Karnataka, saree business was nurtured by Sri Badarmalji who sold sarees door-to-door on his shoulders. His work ethics, sincerity, and commitment to traditional values left a lasting impression on his son Champalal B Dhelaria sowing the seeds of a bigger vision.
Determined to build something greater, he dreamed not just of a shop—but a showroom that would become a trusted name for generations. In 1987, that vision became reality with the founding of Shantala Sarees. Under his leadership, Shantala became the first showroom in Davanagere to earn the prestigious Vallalar Silk Society of Kanchipuram and Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation Limited (KSIC) dealership, one among the very few in Karnataka at that time.
From humble beginnings to becoming one of Karnataka’s most respected heritage brands, Shantala stands as a testament to vision, values, and generations of passionate entrepreneurship.

Champalal B Dhelaria
He was raised with values of humility, hard work, and quiet perseverance, he found his calling early — not in pursuit of fame, but in understanding the finer details of life through the delicate textures of fabric. His journey in the world of sarees began in his youth.
Every customer who walked in was treated like family. He never sold a saree — he offered an experience, a memory, a piece of tradition wrapped in care. With an intuitive sense that couldn’t be taught, he often selected the perfect drape without needing many words. Just a smile, a conversation, and the rest flowed as naturally as silk through his hands.
He wasn’t known for grandeur, but for grace. Not for authority, but for his quiet strength. The trust he built, the love he spread, and the respect he earned — all came from his grounded nature and genuine connection with people.
The transformation of a modest 2,000 sq. ft. space into a landmark 50,000 sq. ft. Wedding Mall was not merely a business achievement — it was a dream brought to life. That transition wasn't about expansion alone, but about creating a home for memories, ceremonies, and celebrations. His vision, his touch, and his essence shaped every brick of that journey.
Fate, however, had its own turn. A tragic accident took him away far too soon. Every corner of the store holds a whisper of his spirit. The warmth he brought is still felt in the way the team welcomes, the way customers speak of him with misty eyes, and the way silence pauses in memory.
Though he no longer walks these aisles, he remains in every fold, every shade, every story. His legacy lives on, lovingly and endlessly.
